Decided to take Gman into the doctor today. The fever kept up off and on over the weekend. He'd be doing fine if he was laying around watching TV, playing the DS or reading... But within a few minutes of being up playing/moving around he'd start coughing, or having trouble breathing and get those horrible bags under his eyes.
Doc said he had a sinus infection. Explains most of it. We got an antibiotic that only has be be dispensed twice a day (Yay to not having to fight with the school again!). And the doc recommended a new sinus rinse (http://www.neilmed.com/usa/products.php). He gave it a try before bed, and was able to do 3/4 of the bottle. He said it felt gross. I could imagine having liquid go UP your nose is a fairly odd sensation on it's own, without having done it on purpose and multiple times. But there was an awful lot of goo that was coming out with the water... Hopefully it'll help him breathe better tonight. The doc said that he's been doing it every other day himself since January, and doesn't even need to take any allergy meds now. It would be fantastic if we could get Gman to that point. Will see. I'm not holding my breathe for those results. I might however steal the bottle and try it myself if/when my allergies act up again.
I had debated missing more work for the appt today, but I'm really glad I did. So much better to catch the infection before it starting into the super painful stage. I was just worried that I'd take him in and they'd roll their eyes and say "Yep, he's got a cold. No meds, just push the rest and fluids". And in the mean time I missed more work, and exposed us to all the germs at the doctors office. It's always nice to not go there for "nothing".
So with the antibiotics he should be feeling much better in the next day or so. YAY!! Much as he loves TV, I can tell he's getting bored with it...
