This weekend was 10 year class reunion. They did it in 3 parts, and I'm REALLY hoping that the two events that I DIDN'T go to didn't do such a fantastical job of showing people what the class of 1998 was all about. The two parts I missed were the fancy dinner ($70/couple) Saturday night and the lunch in the Quad for the family today. I was thinking of going to the lunch, but no one else I talked to was, and then I found out my cousin was having his going away party today...
The event that I did go to was the football game. When they started planning it I heard it was going to be the Homecoming game. But once we got there we found out it wasn't. We played Queen Creek. They almost completely washed us, but we did end up getting one touchdown right at the end.
I was surprised at the Marching Band. I only went to a few games, since I was usually working on Friday's... But I remember our bad was HUGE. It seems like in line formation we had 4-5 lines with AT LEAST 10 people per line. The picture at right was the COMPLETE marching band. Drum line rocked though. There's just no getting over that....
I'm guesstimating that 15-20 people from out class (plus some spouses/kids) showed. I'm not the go get em' type of person, so I think I actually talked to 5 or 6 of them, and might have been able to make eye contact with another 2 or 3. It was all very "clicky" and I laughed as I watched some of the them avoid eye contact.
The school went so far as to warn the reunion planners that we needed to behave. They heeded this warning by sending out an e-mail to let us know that we were remembered. We had been asked to "behave on campus", and a reminder that there are no drugs/alcohol/smoking on campus. We showed our true class of 1998 behavior by having two of our alumni bring beer to the game, and once escorted away from the stands to have at least one of those two try and run away from the Officer.... Grrreeeat..
About half way through the game a group of male students in front of us got into the school spirit. The took off their shirts and got painted. They stayed on their feet the rest of the game dancing to the songs the marching band played and cheering on the team.
Our boys decided that was great fun and they should do it too! They didn't last more than a minute or two of cheering, but they got all painted up! Here's Eddie painting Gman, and then him and some of the other boys watching the game.
I had fun, and I'm super glad I went! My kiddo, Jayne's kiddo, Annie's kid & Eddie's kiddos were all running around the bleachers (since that corner was completely empty). And I got to meet up with Shandelle again. Maybe we'll stay in touch more now.. I hope so!

WHAT?! No pictures of Anjlai flirting with all the boys? Gman as a shirtless wonder stole the show!
